If you consider yourself a true pecan pie aficionado, then this pecan fudge is about to become your new obsession. It encapsulates all the rich, nutty, and sweet flavors you adore in a traditional pecan pie, but reimagined with a sumptuously creamy, melt-in-your-mouth texture that’s simply divine. Every square offers a symphony of flavors, from the deep, caramelly notes of dark corn syrup to the aromatic whispers of vanilla and maple, all balanced by the satisfying crunch of toasted pecans.

While a classic pecan pie always holds a special place in my heart, my brother, in particular, takes his pecan pie enthusiasm to an entirely new level. His infatuation with this Southern staple is legendary within our family. He possesses an uncanny ability to devour an impressive amount of pie in one sitting, making him the ultimate taste-tester and inspiration for new pecan-infused creations.

In our perpetual quest to keep his pecan cravings fully satisfied, we’ve developed a delightful array of pecan pie variations and pecan-adjacent recipes over the years. These creations celebrate the versatile flavor of pecans, exploring different textures and dessert formats while always retaining that quintessential pecan pie essence. For instance, one of his absolute favorites, and a perennial birthday request, is our Pecan Pie Cheesecake – a rich, tangy, and nutty masterpiece.

Beyond cheesecake, our culinary adventures have led us to other remarkable pecan desserts. We’ve crafted a luscious Caramel Pecan Pie, featuring a delectable base made from melted caramel candies that adds an extra layer of chewy sweetness. For those who prefer a more portable treat, our Pecan Pie Bars and indulgent Gooey Pecan Dream Bars offer all the flavor of the pie in a convenient, handheld form. Each recipe highlights the incredible depth and versatility of pecans, proving that this humble nut can elevate any dessert to extraordinary heights.

This pecan pie fudge recipe marks our exciting first venture into transforming the beloved pie into a creamy, sliceable fudge. In many ways, its foundation shares similarities with our popular Condensed Milk Pecan Pie, particularly in its lusciously smooth texture. The base of this fudge boasts delicate notes of vanilla, providing a comforting warmth.

However, it’s the strategic addition of dark corn syrup that truly elevates this fudge, infusing it with the deep, molasses-like sweetness and rich, complex flavor profile characteristic of traditional pecan pie. A hint of maple extract further enhances this authentic taste, contributing an earthy, aromatic sweetness that pairs perfectly with the pecans. This thoughtful combination of ingredients creates a multi-layered flavor experience that will transport you straight to your grandmother’s holiday table.

To crown this delightful creation, we generously sprinkle a layer of crunchy, perfectly toasted pecans on top. Toasting the pecans before adding them is a crucial step that intensifies their nutty flavor and adds an irresistible textural contrast to the smooth fudge below. You are sure to fall head over heels for this incredible confection. This easy pecan fudge is more than just a treat; it’s a celebration in every bite! It would be an absolute showstopper for Thanksgiving gatherings, a festive addition to your Christmas dessert platters, or simply a perfect little indulgence whenever you crave something sweet, nutty, and utterly satisfying.

The best part about this homemade pecan pie fudge is how incredibly simple and quick it is to prepare. With minimal effort and just a few minutes of hands-on time, you can whip up a batch of this fantastic holiday fudge. It’s truly a fun and rewarding treat to make, even for novice bakers, making it an ideal choice for busy holiday schedules.

Pro Tip: Line Your Pan for Effortless Cutting and Pristine Squares

While not strictly essential, lining your baking pan with either foil or parchment paper is a game-changer for achieving beautifully neat and uniform fudge squares. This simple step allows you to easily lift the entire block of set fudge out of the pan, providing a flat, stable surface for clean and precise cuts. If you prefer a more rustic presentation or plan to serve the fudge directly from the pan, you can certainly skip this step. However, for picture-perfect pieces, a lined pan is highly recommended.

For foil, the easiest method is to gently press a sheet of foil into the bottom of the pan first, smoothing it out. Then, flip the pan over and carefully mold the foil around the exterior of the pan, creating crisp corners. Once shaped, remove the foil, flip it right side up, and carefully place it back into the pan, ensuring it fits snugly with overhang on all sides for easy lifting. For parchment paper, try to crease the corners sharply to help it hold its shape and stay in place.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups chopped pecans
  • cup evaporated milk
  • ½ cup dark corn syrup
  • 3 cups white chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ teaspoon maple extract
  • ¼ cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Line an 8×8 baking dish with parchment paper or foil, leaving an overhang on the sides for easy removal, then set it aside.
  2. In a large skillet, toast the 2 cups chopped pecans over medium to medium-low heat. Stir them frequently to prevent burning. Once you begin to smell their fragrant, nutty aroma (this indicates they are toasted), remove them from the heat immediately. Set the toasted pecans aside.
  3. Combine the ⅓ cup evaporated milk and ½ cup dark corn syrup in a large microwave-safe bowl. Microwave the mixture on high for 3 minutes until very hot and bubbling.
  4. Immediately add the 3 cups white chocolate chips to the hot liquid. Stir continuously until the white chocolate chips are completely melted and the mixture is smooth and cohesive.

  5. Stir in the 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, ¼ teaspoon maple extract, and ¼ cup powdered sugar. Continue stirring until all ingredients are fully incorporated. The mixture will become quite thick.
Adding the powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and maple extract to the bowl of melted white chips.
  6. Evenly spread the thick fudge mixture into the prepared 8×8 baking dish. Sprinkle the reserved toasted pecans generously over the top of the fudge, then gently press them into the surface to ensure they adhere and create a beautiful, crunchy topping.
Fudge mixture spread into a parchment paper lined square baking dish.
  7. Chill the fudge in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, or until it is completely set and firm. Once set, use the parchment paper overhang to lift the entire block of fudge from the pan and cut it into desired squares. Enjoy your delicious homemade Pecan Pie Fudge!

Notes on Storage and Variations

For optimal freshness and flavor, store your Pecan Pie Fudge in an airtight container. It will keep beautifully at room temperature on the counter for at least a week, making it perfect for gifting or holiday entertaining. For extended storage, transfer the airtight container to the refrigerator, where it will remain delicious for up to 3 weeks. You can even freeze this fudge for several months of storage, ensuring you always have a delightful treat on hand for unexpected guests or future cravings. Just thaw at room temperature before serving.
Consider experimenting with different toppings! While toasted pecans are classic, you could also add a drizzle of caramel sauce, a sprinkle of sea salt, or even a light dusting of cinnamon for extra flair.
